For most people, selecting a network marketing company is strictly based on an emotional decision. They may attend a business opportunity meeting, get caught up in all the hype and jump at the chance to join with all these perceived-to-be successful superstars.
There are others who prefer to be a bit more methodical in making their decision. Specifically they consider the “3 P’s” of network marketing: Product (or service), Personnel (or management team of the company as well as the team they will be joining) and the Pay Plan.
Let’s consider each of the P’s.
First, the Product. How many years has the product been available? Have sales increased each year? How in demand is it? If it’s in the health and wellness field, is it sufficiently unique to set itself apart from the other 2,000 health and wellness network marketing companies? Will consumers – your customers – be willing to make repeat purchases of it from you or is it up to you to consume whatever has to be ordered on autoship?
Second, the Personnel or management team. Have they been in network marketing for a while or is this their first “rodeo”? What kind of growth did their previous network marketing company experience? How stable and rewarding was their compensation plan at their previous company? In short, is this the type of management team that you feel comfortable at betting your future (and your family’s future) on?
Now that you are satisfied with the company’s management team, will you be joining a marketing team once you join a specific group? Do they offer both offline and online training?
What type of online marketing skills do they have that they can readily teach you? Will they aggressively assist you in building your business? (Today as part of someone’s due diligence, an email was sent to me requesting the names of the top 5 producers in my network marketing company. Incredibly all 5 were in our team which primarily uses online marketing strategies. But that was a great question, don’t you think?) Ask who are the top 5 producers in your network marketing company?
Third, the Pay Plan. Can you make money at it? Is it a “down the road” residual heavy pay plan where you starve now with the hope of building for the future? Is it a front end loaded plan which pays you dearly to recruit and is sort of skimpy when it comes to residuals? Or, have you hit the mother lode and your pay plan rewards you heavily for recruiting and heavily with residuals?
I am sure you can come up with a lot of additional questions. Ask away. After all, the success of your network marketing business is built upon these “3 P’s”.
