Over the weekend, while visiting Federal Hill in Providence, my wife and I decided to eat at one of the many Italian eateries. Caserta’s Pizza was always a favorite of ours. As a matter of fact, Caserta’s is always a local favorite to a number of we Rhode Islanders.

When we arrived, after having placed our order, we stood and waited for a table as the place was packed. As I watched the 5 lines 6 or 7 deep waiting to place their order, I wondered what is their secret and what could network marketing companies learn from their success.

First there is the product. Caserta’s superior and consistent quality would be an understatement. Their pizza is the same today as it was 30+ years ago. How about the network marketing products that we offer? Is the quality outstanding or have we just bought all the hype of our product being the best?

Second their product line is extremely limited. Small or large pizzas, spinach pies, a “pig-in-the-blanket”, and Whimpy-Skippy. That’s it. No pastas. No entrees. No frills. How about the various product line extensions we have for our network marketing products in an effort to garner more sales? Our rationale is the more we have, the more we will sell.

Third the simplicity of their system. You walk in, go to the counter and place your order and they hand you a slip and tell you to return to the pickup area of the counter to pick up your order when the last three numbers on your slip are called. How simple are the systems in your network marketing business? Take prospecting, for example. Are you using online marketing to promote and prospect making it easier for team duplication? Or are you using traditional (out dated?) make a list, call the list, show the presentation methods?

Fourth the price of their products are extremely reasonable. Could they charge more? Absolutely but they don’t. How about the prices for our network marketed products? Are they inflated to allow for pieces of the action being passed along to all of us in the promotional pool?

The bottom line: perhaps we can all take a slice out of the business model of Caserta’s Pizza to make our network marketing businesses sizzle.
